Meal Kit Supply are a Canadian Company supplying MREs (Meals Ready to Eat) to the military, emergency services and for outdoors uses such as camping and hunting.  They are also the sole Canadian distributor of Soldier Fuel, a popular, robust energy bar designed by the US military to provide balanced nutrition to people on the move.

Meal Kit Supply are a growing business and needed a redesigned website that would not only reflect that but make their products more accessible to the public consumer.

Ally Mellor is an artist who lives and works in London, England. She recently finished her Masters in Sculpture at the Royal College of Art in the UK and wanted a website to showcase her work. I created a quiet, understated design which reflects the mood of her artwork without overpowering it. The inspiration on this project was mainly in the typography, taking cues from the ornate typesetting of 19th Century books, and adopting an old fashioned centered layout for much of the site.

Andy Pomorski is a blacksmith and sculptor from Picton Ontario.  I designed him a website that complemented his style of work, with an emphasis on showcasing his talent. Another requirement for his website was an easy to use blog and portfolio that he could update.

This was a full branding project and along with this website, I also designed him business cards and a brochure advertising his blacksmithing workshops (see below).

Trillium Construction is a renovation and construction company from Lindsay, Ontario.  Their old website was suffering from outdated design, and a total lack of search engine optimization, a must for a business showcase website.  We redesigned the whole website from scratch to incorporate lots of new functionality and make information much more accessible to the website’s audience.

The Design

To begin with we came up with a new structure with a much clearer information hierarchy that encouraged users to click through the site and learn about the company.

Next we gave the graphic design an overhaul, updating the look and feel to something more contemporary, whilst keeping the company’s colours and mood.  We added a slick portfolio section to showcase the companies projects. Also an easy to use resources blog, so the company can post useful information on topics like renovation and building.

The most important addition to this redesign was SEO (search engine optimization).  While the original site had no techniques in place to help search engine placement, this new design has all the necessary features to increase traffic.

Toronto Solar Blinds is a new company operating out of Richmond Hill, Ontario.  They sell Climate Control Solar Blinds, an environmentally friendly system that reduces heating and cooling costs and thus carbon emissions in the home.

Pointy Solid is an extention of the Pointy font family, this time with an inverted, filled style for a bolder look.  All glyphs are hand drawn with deliberate subtle variances in size and weight to add to the tactile feel of the typeface.  Careful attention has been paid to metrics and kerning making this typeface ideal for a wide range of graphic applications.
